Red Smith Middle School offers a variety of activities to its students! There is something for everyone. Please visit this page often for information and schedules for each activity.

All students interested in participating in an activity will need to complete the Activities Eligibility Form to participate. If your student already participated in an activity this year, they should have all the paperwork turned in. Red Smith FFA engages students interested in natural resources, agriculture and leadership. Members are registered under Preble High School's FFA Chapter. Our group is student driven and participates in hands-on projects, fundraising and welcomes guest speakers throughout the year. All students grades 6-8 are welcome to join!

Do you like to have fun talking, debating and/or performing? If so then THE FORENSICS TEAM is for you! Forensic team members participate in two lively competitions each year, showing off how well we can speak and be dramatic. We have a flexible after school practice schedule and our team is typically made up of a wide variety of 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls. Team members can do solo pieces OR work in a group!

The Red Smith Leadership Club is a dynamic organization designed to empower students to develop essential leadership skills while making positive contributions to our school and community. Through a combination of team-building activities, workshops, and hands-on projects, members learn effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. They collaborate on initiatives such as community service projects, fundraisers, and school events, fostering a sense of responsibility and camaraderie among peers. The club provides a platform for students to voice their ideas, advocate for causes they believe in, and become active agents of change within their school environment and beyond.

Running Club is an opportunity for students to train in a safe, comfortable environment. We meet twice each week to train as well as share questions and content. There are no competitions as this is purely a recreational activity. It is open to competitive and non-competitive students seeking to get into or stay in shape and lead a healthy lifestyle. This year we are meeting most Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday, February 4th, until spring break. Please meet in the cafeteria after school if you are interested. Sting Cancer is an outreach group for middle schoolers in grades 6-8. Kids meet after school 1-2 times per month and plan events and fundraisers that support local cancer centers and members of our Red Smith School community who are struggling with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
